TransTech 2025

Jupe is an artist and culture keeper born and raised in the Black Belt city of Albany, Georgia. Their work celebrates Black folks in their day to day lives, with Nature and with the Supernatural. They have a documentary style approach to their work, and believe resolutely in archiving Black rural and small city areas. Their lens is primarily influenced by their upbringing and the storytellers from their family. They currently reside in the South.

I create visual works that incorporate Rural Black Southern Culture(s), Nature and Black Spiritualities together in a blend I call Afro-Folkloric. I focus on Black Southerners (with an emphasis on rural and small cities) and the Black Belt as places of liminality as experienced through Nature and SuperNatural activity.
